This competency requires familiarity with the ICF Code of Ethics and its application in all coaching interactions. Ethical coaches maintain clear boundaries between coaching, consulting, and therapy. They remain in the coach role throughout sessions, focus on present and future rather than dwelling on emotional past, and use foundational coaching skills to facilitate client insights rather than giving advice.
