The Coaching Feedback Gap
Quality feedback on coaching sessions is hard to come by. A mentor coaching session with a qualified supervisor is invaluable — but it happens once a week or once every two weeks at best. In between, coaches practice without structured feedback. A session happens, goes well or doesn't, and a week passes before anyone looks at what actually occurred.
For coaches preparing for ICF credentials, this gap is especially costly. You need a clear picture of where you stand on each of the eight core competencies — not a vague sense that things are improving, but specific evidence: where you demonstrated active listening, where your questions were directive rather than curious, where you held the coaching presence the ICF expects. Without that feedback, you're practicing in the dark.
The ICF credentialing process requires documented mentor coaching hours precisely because self-assessment is unreliable. But mentor coaching hours are expensive. Many coaches spend months preparing without a clear read on which competencies need the most work before they're ready for formal evaluation.
This is the gap a free competency analysis is designed to fill.
What You Get with a Free Analysis
When you create a free account, you receive one complete analysis of a coaching session transcript across all eight ICF core competencies, plus five AI coaching conversations to explore your results. Here is what that looks like in practice.
All 8 ICF Core Competencies Scored
Each competency is analyzed individually against the evidence in your session transcript. The analysis does not produce a single aggregate score — it provides specific feedback per competency, with examples drawn from your actual session.
The competencies covered are aligned with the ICF Updated Core Competency Model:
- Demonstrates Ethical Practice — how you handled boundaries, confidentiality, and role clarity
- Embodies a Coaching Mindset — openness, curiosity, and how you managed your own reactions
- Establishes and Maintains Agreements — how you co-created a clear coaching agenda and adjusted it throughout
- Cultivates Trust and Safety — how the client felt seen, heard, and supported
- Maintains Presence — your level of attentiveness and ability to stay with the client without agenda
- Listens Actively — beyond words: noticing tone, shifts, what was not said
- Evokes Awareness — the quality of your questions and observations
- Facilitates Client Growth — how you supported commitment, accountability, and forward movement
For each competency, you receive a level assessment (below ACC, ACC, PCC, or MCC) along with specific feedback on what the evidence showed.
Your ACC/PCC/MCC Level Assessment
Beyond the per-competency breakdown, the analysis produces an overall level assessment indicating where your coaching currently sits relative to ICF standards. This is evidence-based — tied to specific moments in your session — not a general impression.
For coaches preparing for credentialing, this gives you something concrete to work with. If your overall assessment shows ACC-level performance with two competencies at PCC, you know exactly where to focus between now and your evaluation. If you are already performing at PCC on most competencies, you can see which ones are pulling the assessment down.
For a detailed breakdown of what distinguishes ACC, PCC, and MCC performance, see our ICF credential comparison guide.
5 AI Coaching Conversations
Your analysis results are available for 72 hours, and during that window you also have five AI coaching conversations to explore what you received. These are not chatbot FAQ responses — they are contextual conversations about your actual results.
You can use them to:
- Ask why a specific competency was assessed the way it was
- Get targeted suggestions for developing a particular area
- Explore what a different approach might have looked like in a specific moment from your session
- Understand the difference between how you performed in two competencies that received different scores
The conversations are a way to turn a static report into something you can actually learn from.
How It Works
Step 1: Create Your Free Account
Creating an account takes about 30 seconds. No credit card is required. The app is available on iOS and Android.
Step 2: Upload a Coaching Session
You upload a transcript of a real coaching session. The transcript should capture a genuine coaching conversation — a session with a real client, not a role-play for a training exercise. A session of around 20 minutes or longer gives the analysis enough material to work with across all eight competencies.
You can submit your session in several ways:
- Upload a text file — a .txt or .pdf transcript
- Paste the conversation directly — if you have it in a document or notes app
- Upload an audio recording — the system will transcribe it automatically
Your data is encrypted with AES-256 encryption and we are fully GDPR compliant. Your session content is never used for AI training.
Step 3: Get Your Results
Analysis typically completes in 2 to 3 minutes. When it is ready, you will see:
- Each competency scored with specific examples from your session
- Your overall ACC/PCC/MCC level assessment
- A summary of your main strengths and development areas
You have 72 hours to review the results and use your five AI coaching conversations.

Start Free AnalysisWhat Is a Coaching Transcript?
A coaching transcript is simply a written record of what was said in a coaching conversation — what the coach said, what the client said, in the order it happened. If you have never worked with transcripts before, here is what you need to know.
What counts: Any written record of a real coaching session that captures both sides of the conversation. This includes:
- Notes you took during or immediately after a session (capturing key exchanges)
- A document you created from memory after a session
- An automatic transcription of an audio or video recording
- A text-based coaching conversation (such as coaching conducted over messaging)
What makes a good transcript for analysis: The goal is to give the analysis system enough material to assess your coaching behaviors across all eight competencies. A longer, more complete transcript produces a more detailed and reliable assessment. Include both parties' dialogue. Do not heavily edit out pauses, tangents, or moments that felt off — those are often where the most useful coaching feedback lives.
Minimum length: A 20-minute session produces enough material for a meaningful analysis. Shorter sessions tend to result in lower confidence assessments on some competencies simply because there are fewer examples to evaluate.
Who Is This For?
This analysis is useful for coaches at a range of stages:
Coaches preparing for ICF ACC, PCC, or MCC credentials — Understanding your current competency profile before submitting your credential application helps you prepare targeted practice, choose the right sessions to submit, and enter the process with realistic expectations.
Coaches wanting structured feedback between mentor sessions — One analysis of a recent session gives you specific material to bring to your next mentor coaching session, making that time more focused and productive.
Coaching students and program participants — If you are in a coach training program and want feedback on your developing practice beyond what your program provides, a session analysis gives you an independent view of where you stand.
Experienced coaches doing periodic self-assessment — Even coaches who are not pursuing credentials benefit from knowing how their current practice looks against ICF standards. Competencies can drift over time.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is it really free?
Yes. One full 8-competency analysis and five AI coaching conversations, no credit card required. The results and conversations are available for 72 hours. After that, you can choose whether to continue with a paid plan — there is no obligation.
How is this different from the demo on your website?
The website demo shows a sample analysis based on a fictional session, with one competency locked. The free trial in the app analyzes your actual coaching session with personalized, evidence-based feedback across all eight competencies.
Is my coaching session data secure?
All sessions are encrypted with AES-256 encryption. We are GDPR and KVKK compliant. Your session content is never used for AI training. You can read our full privacy policy for details on data handling and retention.
What happens after the 72 hours?
Your analysis results are saved to your account. The five AI coaching conversations expire after 72 hours. You can review your results at any time, and you can continue with a subscription plan to analyze additional sessions, track your progress over time, and access unlimited AI coaching conversations.
Can I use this for my ICF credential application?
The analysis provides a detailed self-assessment aligned with ICF competencies. It is not a substitute for the formal mentor coaching hours required by the ICF — those requirements exist for good reasons and this tool does not replace them. What it does is help you make better use of your development time between formal mentor coaching sessions. For full details on ICF hour requirements, see our guide to mentor coaching hours.
What if I do not have a clean transcript?
Rough notes, imperfect audio transcriptions, and memory-based reconstructions all work. The analysis is designed to work with real-world material, not polished documentation. If your transcript is incomplete in places, note that in the session context when you upload — the analysis will indicate lower confidence in those areas rather than making up evidence that is not there.

From creating your account to having results in front of you takes less than five minutes, plus the 2-3 minutes the analysis itself runs. If you have a session transcript ready, you can have your first competency assessment before you finish your next cup of coffee.
The analysis will not replace your mentor coach. Nothing does. But it will give you something specific to think about, practice toward, and bring to your next mentor session — and that makes the time between sessions count for more.
